Joan was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and started sewing at the age of nine.  Her love for the visual arts and of machinesewing was combined in her first one woman show in 1980. Most of her inspiration has come from the beauty of nature and the simplicity of animals.

She has a Masters in Art from Adelphi University and she has taught high school art for 22 years on Long Island.

She is now dedicating her time as a volunteer and Vice President of The Animal Alliance of Cape May County www.animalalliancecmc.org in Cape May, New Jersey.   Joan is the director of the AACMC Spay/Neuter Clinic which affords people in need, the opportunity to get their pets or feral cats altered at a low cost.

Joan enjoys the simple life in Cape May Point, New Jersey with her husband Bob and their 2 (shelter) dogs, Joshua and Nina! She has 2 wonderful step children and 3 incredible grand children.

1.   To educate about the importance of SPAYING AND NEUTERING of  companion animals and feral cats. This is the only way
PREVENT THE EUTHANASIA OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS that enter into shelters each year.

2.   To heighten awareness about adopting one of the thousands of loving animals from a local shelter or from
       Petfinder.com. WWW.PETFINDER.COM

3.   To provide visual enjoyment and education through my textile designs.

4.    To raise funds for spay/neuter by donating 100% of the profits of my art work to be used to alter companion animals and feral cats.

Each one of my original textile designs depicts a “designer mutt” that has been up for adoption on Petfinder.com. Since these animals bring joy, hope and positive energies into peoples’ lives, each textile design contains an affirmation or positive thought.

Sadly, there are hundreds of thousands of shelter animals that, due to lack of space, do not find homes and are euthanized.

So adopt a “Designer Mutt” from your local shelter or go on to Petfinder.com.

100% of the profits of my work are donated to spaying and neutering which is the best way to end the horrific animal overpopulation
