Twelve years ago Joan began the creation of a living “Animal Compassion Quilt” whose purpose is to draw attention to the plight of homeless animals.She wanted
people who have had an impact on society to be a part of it. To date over 200 people including 3 United States presidents, artists, writers, humanitarians, noble prize winners, actors and animal advocates have signed the quilt thereby showing their support for these animals. Accompanying the quilt is information regarding the
importance of spay/neuter, humane animal treatment, animals as healers and other animal related elements. (This awareness quilt is looking for a permanent home in a highly trafficked area. If you can provide a space please contact Joan at Joanbob11@verizon.net
PAYING HOMAGE TO JEFF TAYLOR AND HIS DOG FLASH
Jeff Taylor was a Master Police Officer of the Riverside Police Department, in Riverside Missouri. Jeff was a K-9 Handler who, in 2006, was paired up with K-9 Flash, a four year old German Shepherd patrol dog. MPO Taylor and K9 Flash were instrumental in several large drug seizures and several tracks to apprehend suspects and missing persons. Many of the people in the Riverside community, were used to seeing Jeff and Flash out at city events and helping with different police functions. In 2010, Flash had to be retired due to a degenerative health issue. At that point, Jeff lovingly took Flash home to live with him.
Tragically, in 2011, while responding to the Joplin tornado aftermath, Jeff was killed when a bolt of lightening struck the area next to him. Jeffs' former partner, Officer Brandon Wilcox, adopted Flash. Jeff is missed by all those who knew him.
