Welcome to Joan's Designer Mutts!

A site for those who would like to help end over population of dogs and cats through the purchase of textile art.*

*100% of the profits from the sale of Joan's textile designs are donated to spay/neuter animals.

My original fabric designs are inspired by animals found in shelters and rescues throughout the country. These colorful, machine stitched creations are for sale.  100% of the profits go to spay/neuter to help end the euthanasia of millions of healthy animals every year.

Textile Art

Joans' featured  shelter dog "Orion".

Orion is a brindle pit mix from "Tri Lakes Humane Society" in Branson, Missouri.  Joan visited the shelter this past October and was inspired by Orion's sweet spirit

and vibrant coloring.

About the Artist Joan Veneziano-D'Avanzo

Joan was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and started sewing at the age of nine. In the years following, she combined her artistic talents and her love of fabric in her work.  She received her Masters in Art from Adelphi University where she held her first one woman exhibit.

Joan had the privilege of teaching high school art on Long Island, New York for twenty two years.  After she retired, Joan dedicated her time to help shelter animals.

She currently resides with her husband, Bob and their two rescue dogs Nina and Molly.  Joan's artistic muses are the dogs found at shelters and rescues.  She hopes her art will raise awareness and help end animal over population.

Joan currently has a studio in Cape May Point, New Jersey and Sarasota, Florida.
